Right of Way Permits

Public Works Permit applications are now available through our online permitting portal.

• Submit applications for various Right of Way Permits and Encroachment Permits.
• Pay permit or plan check fees online with Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express or electronic check.
• Track progress of permit applications.

The permit portal is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

To ensure the requested permit is issued when requested, please submit an application a minimum of 1-2 weeks prior to your work commencement. 

Right of Way permits are required for all work in the right-of-way. Permit applications are categorized as follows.

*Inspection required

Any "No Parking Tow Away" sign received with a permit must be placed 72 hours before its effective date and time. These signs are not enforceable until they have been in place for 72 hours. 

Requirements for obtaining a ROW Permit

• Proof of State Contractor's License (learn more about Contractor License requirements)
• City Business License (for all permits except Moving Permits)
• Proof of Commercial Liability Insurance naming the City as Additionally Insured (sample)
• Traffic Control Plans (required for Utility permits OR any work that requires street or lane closure)
• Work Area Plans (required for Utility permits)

ENCROACHMENTS

Public Works Encroachment Permit applications are now available through our online permitting portal.

Encroachment permits allow residents or business owners to enter an agreement with the City for on-going private use of the right-of-way. The City retains the right to revoke an encroachment permit at any time.

Public Works Banner Permit applications are now available through our online permitting portal.

PARKWAY TREE PLANTING, MAINTENANCE & REMOVAL

Residents must apply for a permit to plant, prune, or remove trees from city parkways adjacent to their property. Applications to remove a tree with a trunk diameter greater than 12 inches must be approved by the Public Works Commission (municipal code).
