Greenbelt Pedestrian Trail Projects
Project Highlights:
- Combination and construction of 3 projects: CIP 502 Greenbelt Pedestrian Trail, CIP 604 Citywide ADA Improvements, and CIP 194 Annual Striping Improvements
- Increase accessibility of the Greenbelt to all users
- Project limits include the Greenbelt and adjacent curb ramps and sidewalks from Pier Ave. to 8th St.
- Estimated construction timeline: October 2024 to January/February 2025
- Replacement of non-accessible woodchip path with accessible decomposed granite trail
- Upgrades to several curb ramps and portions of sidewalk
- ADA compliant parking spaces
- Installation of 2 new fitness equipment areas at the north and south ends of the Greenbelt
- New landscaping with trees and plantings
- Safety improvements at crosswalk to Clark Building
- Irrigation and drainage upgrades
Grant Funding Award:

The City has received grant funds of approximately $500,000 for the construction of the project by LA County Regional Park and Open Space District.
Project Status:
Phase 2 area (Pier Ave to 11th St) is open.
Phase 1 area (11th St to 8th St) is open.
Minor grading is scheduled. Landscape and planting are currently being established. Ribbon cutting ceremony to be announced.
