Project Summary

Los Angeles County Fire Department will be managing Fire Station 100 (540 Pier Avenue) project construction in coordination with the City of Hermosa Beach (prime contractor is MTM Construction). The City contracted with the Los Angeles County Fire Department in 2017 to provide fire protection services to the community. A remodel of the existing fire station in the amount of $1,816,360 was included in the agreement. This project includes the removal of the second floor, installation of a new roof, and a redesign of the first floor to include five dormitories, two ADA accessible restrooms, an office, a remodeled kitchen, HVAC, and new lighting. Exterior changes include tinted and retrofitted windows and newly designed landscaping. Demolition began in mid-September 2019. Construction will begin on October 7, 2019 and is expected to be completed by early 2020.

Public Meetings & Approvals

  • The project was approved in 2017 when the Los Angeles County Fire Department fire annexation agreement was approved. During each of the quarterly fire and ambulance service reports, the construction project is reviewed and updates are provided. The next quarterly update will be provided at the City Council meeting scheduled for November 12, 2019 (7:00 p.m.) at the Council Chambers, 1315 Valley Drive, Hermosa Beach, CA 90254.
