The Police Department Community Services Division is responsible for the enforcement of Municipal and California Vehicle Codes, patrolling the city to locate violations, issuing citations to violators, marking vehicles in timed zones, advanced enforcement on street sweeper routes to facilitate sweeper access, PCH commuter lane enforcement including towing vehicles to allow lane access, responding to traffic hazard complaints, servicing parking complaints including administrative citation reviews and hearings, assisting in directing traffic, operational maintenance of parking meters, servicing animal problems throughout the City, responding to complaints, caring for injured animals, patrolling for potential problems (i.e. prevent animal nuisance), and enforcement of Municipal and State laws.
