The Public Works department helps facilitate the donation of memorial benches with plaques commemorating loved ones within City Parks. At this time time donations are not being accepted for benches on the Pier.
Overview of the donation process:
- The City receives a donation request
- Staff verifies proposed location is acceptable or available
- Location is presented to Parks & Rec Commission for approval (meetings occur first Tues. of the month)
- When location is approved, payment is made by the donor, and order is placed for the bench (while working on the approval, staff will obtain a quote for the bench, the price fluctuates slightly due to shipping costs, so we do ask that you do not provide payment until the location is approved and you are presented with the final cost)
- The bench is manufactured and then shipped to the City (this typically takes 6-8 weeks from the time the order is placed)
- Once the bench arrives, it typically takes another 1-2 weeks for staff to assemble and install the bench in you approved location
