On June 23^rd, the City Council recognized July as National Parks and Recreation Month, recognizing the vital role that parks, recreational programs, and open spaces play in enhancing the health, wellness, and quality of life of our community.

On June 23^rd, the City Council recognized Kim Swindell for her retirement and honored her dedicated service to the City. The Council expressed its appreciation for her years of commitment, professionalism, and contributions to the organization, and wished her all the best in her well-earned retirement.

City Manager's Report

FY 2026-27 Fiscal Year Budget Adopted

Thank you to everyone who participated in our Budget Study Sessions and throughout the Fiscal Year budget process. On June 23, the City Council adopted the Fiscal Year Budget following months of discussion, analysis, and community input.

We appreciate the community’s continued engagement and thoughtful feedback during this process. The adopted budget reflects the City’s commitment to maintaining essential services and preserving the quality of life our residents value, while addressing significant fiscal challenges. Moving forward, the City will continue to evaluate opportunities for both strategic spending reductions and revenue enhancements to support long-term fiscal sustainability.

Fireworks Safety Reminder

As we look forward to celebrating Independence Day next Saturday, a friendly reminder to the community that fireworks are illegal here in Hermosa Beach. Violations carry fines of up to $5,000.

Additionally, in observance of the 4th of July holiday all of the City’s recreation facilities will be open on Friday 7/3, they will be closed all day on Saturday 7/4 and reopen as usual on Sunday 7/5. Street Sweeping enforcement and PCH parking restrictions will be suspended on Friday 7/3, but all other parking regulations will remain in effect. Trash collection will be delayed by one day. No construction work is allowed.

Volunteers Needed – Hermosa Beach Triathlon

The Hermosa Beach Triathlon is looking for volunteers to help support race day on Sunday, August 9, 2026. Opportunities are available in athlete support, course operations, transition area support, registration, water stations, and finish line activities. Volunteer shifts are available throughout the race day, with most shifts taking place between approximately 5:00 AM and 12:00 PM.
