On June 9th, the City Council recognized June 2026 as Pride Month, reaffirming the City’s commitment to fostering an inclusive, welcoming, and equitable community for all residents and visitors. The recognition honors the contributions, resilience, and diversity of the LGBTQ+ community, while also promoting awareness, acceptance, and unity throughout the City.

City Manager's Report

FY 2026-27 Budget Study Sessions Continue

Thanks to everyone who participated in our fifth budget study session meeting this past Tuesday! Our final Budget hearing is scheduled for June 23^rd. We appreciate the community’s continued engagement and thoughtful input as the City works through the Fiscal Year budget process. The City faces significant fiscal challenges which will require a mix of spending reductions and revenue enhancements to maintain our quality of life. Everyone is encouraged to participate in this process.

Mayor Detoy’s Conversation & Clean-Up

Join Mayor Detoy on June 20^th at 10:00 am, in partnership with the Surfrider Foundation South Bay Chapter and the South Bay LGBTQ Center, for a conversation & beach clean-up event. Our local beaches are stewarded by volunteers just like you! We welcome all to an engaging day of raising awareness about litter and plastic pollution while also engaging Mayor Detoy in conversation on any topic of interest. Federal Holiday - Juneteenth  

On June 19th, we celebrate freedom, resilience, and unity. This day serves as an opportunity for reflection, celebration, and continued commitment to building a more inclusive and equitable community. In observance of Juneteenth the following City operations impacted on that day: City Hall will reopen for in-person services on Monday, June 22. Street sweeping and parking enforcement along Pacific Coast Highway will be suspended on Friday, June 19, all other parking regulations will remain in effect. Trash collection will proceed as scheduled, but no construction work is permitted on the holiday.  

The Police and Public Works Departments will remain available; for non-emergency matters, please contact the Police Department at (310) 524-2750.
