On May 12th, the City Council recognized mental health awareness month to increase public understanding of the importance of mental health, and that every citizen and community member can make a difference in helping end the silence and stigma that for too long has surrounded mental illness and discouraged people from getting help.

City Manager's Report
FY 2026-27 Budget/CIP Study Sessions Continue
Thanks to everyone who participated in our second budget meeting this past Tuesday! The next budget meeting will be on May 26. On May 28, the Council will review the CIP recommendations made by the Parks and Rec and Public Works commissions. Another Budget study session is scheduled for June 9, with final adoption of the Budget scheduled for June 23rd. The City faces significant fiscal challenges which will require a mix of spending reductions and revenue enhancements to maintain our quality of life. Everyone is encouraged to participate in this process.
Memorial Day Closures
City Hall and Community Center offices will be closed Monday, May 25 in observance of Memorial Day Holiday. Street sweeping and parking enforcement along PCH will be suspended that Monday, as will all construction work, while all other local parking regulations remain in effect. Trash collection will be delayed by one day.
As always, Police, Public Works, and Fire personnel remain available throughout. For non-emergency assistance, please call the dedicated Police Department line at (310) 524-2750.

Fiesta de las Artes, as it was originally named, celebrated artisan culture and welcomed visitors from all around to the beach to shop and enjoy the art. For more than a decade, Fiesta has been known as Southern California’s largest beachside arts and craft festival. But we in Hermosa like to think of Fiesta simply as a tradition.
