On November 13th, Mayor Saemann, Police Chief Phillips, and Interim City Manager Napolitano hosted a productive and well-attended Public Safety Forum that brought community members together for a constructive discussion on key public safety topics. Chief Phillips shared updates on ongoing HBPD initiatives focused on strengthening community trust and enhancing public safety, and attendees had the opportunity to ask questions and engage directly with City leadership.

Sand Snowman Contest
Saturday, December 6, 9:00 am – 12:00 pm
Location: At the Beach
About the event: Come early and mark your spot for the best Sand Snowman! Prizes will be awarded for Hermosa Beach favorite, most unique, most traditional, best dressed, and funniest. Beach Cities Toy Drive
Saturday, December 6, 10:00 am – 2:00 pm
Location: City Hall (1315 Valley Drive)
About the event: The Cities of Hermosa Beach and Manhattan Beach are proud to announce the commencement of the Annual Beach Cities Toy Drive. The Beach Cities Toy Drive is held to provide toys to underprivileged children in the County of Los Angeles who would otherwise do without during the holiday season. 2026 Greater LA Homeless Count
We need your help to make a difference in the lives of those experiencing homelessness. Join us on January 22nd from 8:00pm to 11:00pm for the 2026 Homeless Count and contribute to a meaningful cause. Through the count, we are better able to direct and advocate for vital services to support the needs of our unhoused neighbors. To register, please visit County’s website.
HERO Program
The South Bay Cities Council of Governments has partnered with newly formed HERO (Housing, Empowerment, Recovery and Outreach) Community Services to deliver person-centered, field-based outreach, case management and housing retention services designed to help individuals and families experiencing or exiting homelessness achieve long-term housing stability and wellbeing. Together they will collaborate to serve areas throughout the beach cities region and Los Angeles County Department of Public Health Service Planning Area 8. Thanksgiving Holiday
In observance of Thanksgiving, City Hall and Community Center Offices will be closed on Thursday, November 27. Street sweeping and PCH tow-away restrictions won't be enforced on November 27 and 28, but all other parking regulations will remain in effect. Trash will not be collected on Thursday, November 27. Collection for the remainder of the week will be postponed by one day. Construction activity also won't be permitted on those dates.
As always, Police and Public Works Departments remain available throughout. For non-emergency assistance, please call the dedicated Police Department line at (310) 524-2750.
