On October 14th, City Council proclaimed the week of October 19 – 25, 2025 as “United Against Hate Week” in Hermosa Beach. The City is dedicated to preventing and opposing hate, bullying and intolerance in our community and we encourage our citizens to support LA vs Hate, United Against Hate Week activities in our county this week and every day beyond.

On October 14th, City Council recognized October 2025 as National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and October 13, 2025 as National Metastatic Breast Cancer Awareness Day. We encourage citizens, private businesses, nonprofit organizations, and other interested groups to join in activities that will increase awareness of what Americans can do to prevent and control breast cancer, and pay tribute to those who have lost their lives to this disease.

Beach Tennis Tournament

Saturday, October 25, 9:00 am – 6:00 pm

Location: Beach Tennis Courts (North side of the Pier)

About the event: The Beach Tennis Association will host a Beach Tennis Tournament on the north side of the Pier. For more information, please visit event website.

Interscholastic Beach Volleyball Tournament Series

Saturday, October 25, 9:00 am – 3:00 pm

Location: Volleyball Courts (North side of the Pier)

About the Event: California School Sport Association/Interscholastic Beach Volleyball will host youth volleyball tournaments on the north side of the Pier. For more information and event times, visit event website.  

AAU Southern Pacific Grand Prix Series

Sunday, October 26, 9:00 am – 4:00 pm

Location: Volleyball Courts (North side of the Pier)

About the event: The Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) will host a youth qualifier volleyball tournament for the national AAU competitions on the north side of the Pier. For more information, visit the event website.

Parking Rates Updated

To improve parking accessibility and better manage the City’s limited resources, the City Council has approved a rate increase for metered parking and beach lots. Metered parking will rise to $3.00, while rates for Beach Parking Lots A, B, and C will increase to $3.50. These new rates will take effect on November 15, 2025. Fall Paper Shredding & Compost Event

On Saturday, October 25, marks our free Fall Paper Shredding & Compost Giveaway from 8 – 11 a.m. at the Hermosa Beach Community Center. All are welcome to safely shred important documents and pick up compost for their garden – just remember to bring your own containers and shovels. Parking Permit Art Contest

City is now accepting design submissions for parking permit year 2026-2027. Open to all Hermosa Beach residents, please submit your design by October 31, 2025. There is no fee to enter but the design competition is limited to one entry per resident. Please visit City’s website for more information.
