On September 9th, City Council celebrated California’s 175th Anniversary of Statehood and the official commencement of the yearlong statewide celebrations that will include events, educational programing, and civic activities that will explore California’s historical journey and future promise. Mayor Saemann presented a Proclamation to Skye Connors from Governor Newsom's Office.

On September 11th, the City held its annual 9/11 wreath-laying ceremony to honor and remember the lives lost during the tragic events of September 11, 2001. The solemn gathering brought together community members, local officials, first responders, and veterans to pay tribute to the victims, their families, and the countless heroes who responded with courage and selflessness in the face of unimaginable tragedy.

Glow Ride for Cystic Fibrosis

About the event: The Claire’s Place Foundation will host its annual Glow Ride for Cystic Fibrosis, a walk/ride on the Strand to raise funds and awareness for Cystic Fibrosis. For more information, visit the event website.
SoCal Beach Foundation – Volleyball

Local 90254 Oktoberfest

Location: Downtown Hermosa Beach
About the event: The Hermosa Beach Chamber of Commerce and Visitor’s Bureau will host Locale 90254 featuring vendor tents, music, carnival rides, and more throughout downtown Hermosa Beach. For more information, visit the event website.

Dog License Renewal & Rabies Clinic
2025 Hermosa Beach dog license sales and renewals begin September 15. These licenses, which are required for all dogs in the City, prove ownership, help reunite lost dogs with their owners, and ensure vaccination against rabies. Licenses must be purchased or renewed by October 31, or a 50% penalty will be added to the cost.
On a related note, the City’s annual Rabies Clinic will be held on Thursday, October 2. Once determined, the time and location will be shared on the City’s website along with additional information.
Coastal Cleanup Day
The City of Hermosa Beach, in partnership with Heal the Bay, will host the annual Coastal Cleanup Day to clean our coastline on September 20th. Check-in begins at 9:00am on Schumacher Plaza.
Participants are encouraged to bring their own reusable buckets and gloves. For more information, please contact the Community Resources Department at (310) 318-0280.
West Basin Water District Rain Barrel Giveaway
West Basin Municipal Water District is giving away free rain barrels at three upcoming events. Open to all Hermosa residents and all customers within West Basin's territory, the September 13 giveaway event will be held nearby in El Segundo.
