HERMOSA BEACH IMPROVES LOCAL GOVERNMENT PROGRAMMING QUALITY

24/7 City Cable Channel Now Broadcast in HD on Spectrum Channel 8, Making Local Meetings and Programs Easier to Watch Than Ever

Post Date:06/26/2025 4:00 PM

The City of Hermosa Beach today announced that its 24/7 City Cable Channel is now broadcasting in full high definition (HD) on Spectrum Channel 8.

The City’s 24/7 City Cable Channel serves as an around-the-clock resource for residents to stay informed about local government actions, City services and upcoming events. It features live and recorded broadcasts of City Council and commission meetings, community updates, public service announcements and original City programming.

“This upgrade is another step toward making local government more accessible and engaging for Hermosa residents,” said Hermosa Beach Mayor Rob Saemann. “Our local access channel is a great tool for our residents to stay connected and informed—whether it’s tuning in to City Council meetings or staying updated on local programs and initiatives—and I’m proud to say that we’ve made it even better.”

The HD upgrade, which was made possible through a partnership with Spectrum Internet and approved as part of the City’s Fiscal Year 2024–25 Budget, included the installation of new fiber infrastructure to improve picture quality and reliability. The project was prioritized to address occasional system failures that disrupted public meeting broadcasts and hindered residents' access to local government.

While Spectrum initially anticipated project completion in the first quarter of 2025, the timeline was extended due to unforeseen technical issues. All necessary work has now been completed, and residents tuning in to Channel 8 can expect a clearer, higher-quality viewing experience.

In addition to Spectrum Channel 8, the City’s 24/7 Cable Access Channel may also be viewed on Frontier Channel 31, and the following streaming options:

· Zoom: Live streaming only.

· City Website: Available live and on replay through the 24/7 City Cable Channel or the eScribe platform located on the Agendas/Minutes/Videos page.

· City YouTube Channel: Available live and on replay.

· REFLECT+: A streaming application provided through Cablecast that offers both live and replay options on various platforms, including iOS, Android, AppleTV, Amazon Fire, and Roku. Unlike YouTube, REFLECT+ does not display advertisements.

Viewers with questions or concerns about the City’s 24/7 City Cable Channel can call Hermosa Beach City Hall directly at (310) 318-0239. Viewers experiencing issues with Channel 8 should contact Spectrum directly via the options at https://www.spectrum.com/contact-spectrum.
