Celebrating the Fourth of July Safely in the City of Hermosa Beach

Post Date:06/26/2025 3:00 PM

As we gear up to celebrate Independence Day this Fourth of July, we’re looking forward to a weekend that reflects everything we love about Hermosa Beach—our strong community spirit, our beautiful coastline and our commitment to looking out for one another. Whether you’re hosting friends for a backyard barbecue, spending time with family or enjoying our beautiful beaches, let’s make this Fourth of July weekend safe, respectful and memorable for all. With that in mind, here are a few tips and reminders:

Increased Presence to Keep Our Community Safe

From July 3–5, you’ll see an increased presence of Hermosa Beach Police and L.A. County Fire personnel throughout the city. They’ll be on hand to keep things safe, offer support when needed and help create a welcoming environment for both residents and visitors. Remember: if you see something suspicious, say something. Emergencies and threats to public safety should be reported by dialing 911, and please dial (310) 524-2750 for any non-emergency services (animal control, parking enforcement, etc.)

Leave the Fireworks to the Pros

In the spirit of keeping Hermosa safe and fire-free, a friendly reminder that all fireworks—including so-called “safe and sane” ones—are illegal here. Fire crews will be patrolling, and violations can result in fines and confiscation. Let’s honor the holiday by protecting our neighborhoods and neighbors.

Celebrate Responsibly

Let’s toast to freedom—safely. Drinking on the beach, public intoxication, underage drinking and DUIs won’t be tolerated. Know the rules, respect your community, and plan ahead by using a designated driver or ride-share if needed.

Hosting? Help Keep Things Neighborly

If police are called to the same property more than once for noise or rowdy behavior, the property owner—not just the guests—may face fines. If you're hosting, we appreciate your help in keeping the peace.

Stay in the Loop

We’ll be sharing tips and updates throughout the weekend. Follow the City on social media, sign up for eNotifications and public safety alerts and help spread the word so everyone stays informed. This Independence Day. let’s come together as a community that’s proud, patriotic and prepared. On behalf of all of us at the City of Hermosa Beach, have a joyful and safe Fourth of July weekend!
