As part of this recognition, they acknowledged Allcove, which offers free mental health resources for youth, and celebrated the efforts of the Youth Advisory Council for their continued advocacy and support in promoting mental health awareness.

Interim City Manager Napolitano
At its May 27th meeting, City Council voted to appoint longtime South Bay public servant Steve Napolitano as Interim City Manager. Mr. Napolitano brings over 30 years experience in local government, legal practice, and City leadership to this new role. His extensive public service includes five terms as Mayor and Councilmember for the City of Manhattan Beach, as well as 12 years as a senior deputy to former Los Angeles County Supervisor Don Knabe. Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Training
The City will offer Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training on Saturday, June 21, and Sunday, June 22, in a convenient hybrid format. This 20-hour FEMA-certified course prepares local volunteers to protect and assist themselves, their families, and their neighbors during a disaster.
Participants can complete the lecture portion online, with in-person sessions focused on practical, hands-on emergency response skills. To learn more, visit the “HbCERT” section under Emergency Preparedness on the City’s website, and visit the Los Angeles County Fire website to register.
12 Hour Beach Parking Lots
Public parking lots A and C now offer extended 12-hour parking to provide more convenience for residents and visitors. Both the in-plane switching (IPS) parking meters and the ParkMobile app have been updated to reflect the new time limits, making it easier to manage and pay for parking. In addition, updated signage has been installed at both lots to clearly communicate the changes and ensure a smooth experience for all users. This update is part of the City’s ongoing efforts to improve access and enhance the overall parking experience in Hermosa Beach. For more information, please visit the City’s website.

You are Enough 5k

About event: The Third Annual YOU ARE ENOUGH Run/Walk 5K is a mental health and wellness event that takes place along a 3.1-mile course on The Strand, between the Hermosa Beach and Manhattan Beach piers. The event brings together participants from Los Angeles and across the country to promote connection, support, and the message that everyone is worthy and enough. It features a live DJ, food and beverages, grab bags, and a positive, welcoming atmosphere. Leading up to the event, there will also be wellness sessions in the South Bay focused on self-care and mental well-being.
