NOTICE OF ADOPTION & SUMMARY
ORDINANCE NO. ORD-25-1486

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HERMOSA BEACH, CALIFORNIA, REPEALING HERMOSA BEACH MUNICIPAL CODE (“HBMC”) SECTIONS 12.28.010 (H) AND 12.20.240 AND ADDING CHAPTER 12.40 TO THE HBMC REGULATING CAMPING IN PUBLIC AREAS AND FINDING THE ORDINANCE IS EXEMPT FROM THE CALIFORNIA ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY ACT (“CEQ A”).

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on March 25, 2025, the City Council of the City of Hermosa Beach (“City” ) adopted Ordinance No. ORD-25-1486.

Ordinance No. ORD-25-1486 repeals sections 12.28.010(H) and 12.20.240 and adds Chapter 12.40 to the Hermosa Beach Municipal Code regulating camping in public areas and finding the same exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act. Specifically, the ordinance prohibits camping in prohibited public places and this prohibition includes the use of a vehicle for human habitation as defined. Violations of the ordinance are subject to misdemeanor prosecution or the City’s administrative citation penalty procedure pursuant to Chapter 1.10.

Ordinance No. ORD-25-1486 was introduced for first reading on February 25, 2025, modified at the regular meeting of March 11, 2025, and adopted by the City Council of the City of Hermosa Beach at its regular meeting on March 25, 2025 by the following vote: Councilmembers Keegan, Detoy, Jackson, Mayor Pro Tem Saemann, and Mayor Francois; NOES: None; ABSTAIN: None ABSENT: None.
