NOTICE OF ADOPTION AND SUMMARY OF ORDINANCE NO. 23-1462
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HERMOSA BEACH, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING CHAPTER 17.21 OF THE HERMOSA BEACH MUNICIPAL CODE REGARDING ACCESSORY DWELLING UNITS AND JUNIOR ACCESSORY DWELLING UNITS AND DETERMINE THE PROJECT IS EXEMPT UNDER THE CALIFORNIA ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY ACT (CEQA) PURSUANT TO SECTION 21080.17 OF THE CALIFORNIA PUBLIC RESOURCES CODE.
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on July 11, 2023, the City Council of the City of Hermosa Beach (“City”) adopted Ordinance No. 23-1462 that amended Chapter 17.21 of the Hermosa Beach Municipal Code regarding Accessory Dwelling Units (“ADUs”) and Junior Accessory Dwelling Units (“JADUs”) in the City and finding the action exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act
Ordinance No. 23-1462 proposes to amend Chapter 17.21 of the Hermosa Beach Municipal Code regarding Accessory Dwelling Units (“ADUs”) and Junior Accessory Dwelling Units (“JADUs”) in the City and finding the action exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act. This ordinance corrects language regarding the measuring of building height as is pertains to ADUs and JADUs, increases the height limit to coincide with the underlying height limit of the applicable zone, adds clarifying language requested by the California Department of Housing and Community Development and removes the restriction on roof decks on ADUs and JADUs.
Ordinance No. 23-1462 was introduced on June 13, 2023 and adopted on July 11, 2023 by the City Council by the following vote: AYES: Councilmembers Detoy, Saemann, Francois, Mayor Pro Tem Massey and Mayor Jackson; NOES: None; ABSTAIN: None ABSENT: None.
