Police Department Key Services & Programs

  • Animal Control - unattended/wild animals, deceased animals, noise complaints, etc.
  • Bike Registration - partnership with Project529, a cross-jurisdictional bicycle registration platform that assists law enforcement and residents in the event of a theft, damage, or sale of a bicycle.
  • Community Police Advisory Board - staff support for monthly meetings to receive and respond to community input on policing issues.
  • Contract management - crossing guards, Dial-a-Taxi (seniors/disabled), dispatch center, radio, software, supplemental private security, systems, and other contracted services.
  • Homeless Services - mental health evaluation services in partnership with the Beach Cities Mental Evaluation Team (MET).
  • House Check Programs - Alzheimers/Homeward Bound, vacation and You Are Not Alone (seniors) - click to sign up.
  • Neighborhood Watch - a great way to reduce and prevent crime in partnership with the Hermosa Beach Police Department - sign up now and apply to be a block captain!
  • Parking Citations - management of the administrative review and hearing process for contested citations.
  • Permits - alarm (security/burglar), amplified sound, block party, drone, oversize vehicle and residential special event.

  • Security Camera Registration - by registering your camera, the Police Department will have the location of your security camera on file which can help deter and solve crime quickly in our community.
  • Special events and community outreach - Coffee with a Cop, Community Safety Fair, Drug Take Back, National Night Out, annual Rabies Clinic, Santa's Sleigh Ride and more--check the City's calendar for upcoming events.
  • Special event support and security services - St. Patrick's Day Parade, Surfer's Walk of Fame/Spyder Surf Fest, Fiesta Hermosa, Hermosa Beach triathlon, 4th of July, AVP volleyball, Summer Series concerts, New Year's Eve and other events.

Notice of Upcoming Bicycle Friendly Striping Upgrades

Subject: Bicycle Friendly Streets (Capital Improvement Program Project 14-168)

This notice is to let you know that the City of Hermosa Beach will be implementing bicycle-friendly infrastructure on July 1st through July 3rd. The bicycle-friendly street improvements will be implemented at the following locations:

  • Sharrows on Pier Ave. between Hermosa Ave. and Ardmore Ave.
  • Sharrows on Ardmore Ave. between Pier Ave. and Longfellow Ave.
  • Bike Lane on Manhattan Ave. between Neptune Ave. and 35th St.
What to Expect During Construction
Expect minimal traffic delays as crews install striping between 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. – Monday through Wednesday.
Parking and Encroachments

No Parking Signs will be posted to allow for continued traffic flow as the striping is installed. Vehicle and pedestrian traffic access will be maintained at all times.
