Tentative Construction Update for the Week of 2.4.19

Strand Construction Update

Stamped-Concrete Removal and Replacement on the Strand will continue on February 4, 2019 pending weather conditions. The next phase of work, will result in a closure of the Strand between 15th St and 14th St adjacent to Noble Park to all through traffic at all hours starting Monday and re-opening on Friday. Pedestrian/bicycle traffic will be temporarily diverted to Hermosa Avenue as a detour.

The schedule for work between 10th Street and 14th Street will be provided in a separate notification as details are finalized, but please note that construction of the additional segments of the Strand will not begin prior to February 11, 2019

Signage, flashing lights, and other traffic control will be in place during construction to keep patrons, strand users, and the construction crew safe during this time.

Hermosa Avenue Update

The contractor hired by the City of Hermosa Beach for the Hermosa Avenue Improvement Project will be working next week (2/4) on grinding the existing street surface and repaving the street with new asphalt between 10th Street and 26th Street. Construction of this phase is scheduled to began Tuesday January 22, 2019 and is scheduled to be completed by Friday February 15, 2019 subject to weather delays and other unforeseen conditions. Work hours will be from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday through Friday.

In order to help minimize the inconvenience to businesses/residents, temporary asphalt ramps will be constructed after grinding operations to facilitate ingress and egress to properties. Traffic lanes may be closed at any given time during construction; however, there will be one lane open to traffic at all times. On the days listed above, parking restrictions will be in place and restrictions will be posted 72 hours in advance of the work occurring. During this phase of the project, street sweeping and trash collection will occur as scheduled and street sweeping restrictions will remain in effect.
