About the Hermosa Beach Police Department

The Hermosa Beach Police Department is a CALEA Accredited Agency, considered the Gold Standard in public safety, for the department's demonstrated commitment to continuous development and the professional delivery of public safety services.

The History of the Hermosa Beach Police Department stretches back to the City's incorporation in 1907. The Hermosa Beach Police Department is a full-service organization committed to high quality service to the residents, businesses, and visitors of Hermosa Beach. Each member of the organization is critical to the fulfillment of the law enforcement Mission and Ethical Standards held by the department.

The Police Department consists of 38 sworn officers and 30 civilian personnel in three Police Divisions. In addition to the Patrol Bureau, there are the specialized units of Detectives, Motors, K-9, Backgrounds and Training.
