To honor the memory of those who were lost on September 11, 2001, we invite the community to attend the Hermosa Beach Wreath Laying Ceremony.

The ceremony will be held at the 9/11 Memorial (Greenbelt & Pier Ave.) on Friday, September 11 at 7:30 a.m.  Flowers will be available for the public to lay at the memorial to pay their respects.

The Hermosa Beach 9/11 memorial is dedicated to the victims of the unprecedented act of terrorism against our country on September 11, 2001, and to the selfless courage shown by both public servants and private citizens.

The piece of steel from Ground Zero is displayed between a sculpture of the two towers scaled to size to immortalize the event and capture the essence of the moment when brave firefighters, police officers, and emergency personnel unselfishly gave their lives to aid others.

The bench was unveiled in 2010 and is adorned with buttons collected by Kiwanis Builders Club students from Hermosa Valley School. Buttons were collected from friends, loved ones, celebrities, and Congress. Each button is unique and represents the nearly 3,000 lives lost on 9/11. The bench offers a place for reflection and remembrance.
